Message dated 6th March 2006 circulated in image management and prpoint groups :

Dear Editorial Team Members of PR e-zine PResense and communication professionals

I am very happy to launch the above e-zine. It could be an excellent medium to fulfil the role envisaged for media and communication personnel for the Developed India 2020 vision given by Dr.A.P.J.Kalam in his book with me in Chapter 12. He has articulated many times later as H.E.President of India.

Developed India 2020 vision has to go down to every level to a small company, to as small lab to a farmer, to an artisan, to big companies to multinational companies to academic institutions to individual. While a generalised message is good to reach all, it is also necessary to customise it in the contextual framework of an institution, or corporate or individual. It has to be a continuous process of communication. This is where communication, PR personnel have a new challenging role.

Often the corporate sector works out strategic plan, business plan and nowadays even technology plan. But there is no effort towards a communication plan as an integrated task. In the coming year, it is crucial.

1) Your own staff is very mobile. Retention is low.
Only internal communication will weld them together. It is a shared vision to keep them motivated.

2) External competition is stiff. Therefore you need to communicate with your clients and customers in an innovative way. You need to capture their hearts.

3) Nowdays any product or service have multiple global partners big and small. There is knowledge sharing in addition to usual business transaction. Above all how to make them feel as a family in a network? This is another challenge for communication professionals.

4) Lastly, there is a society at large. There are many opinions (even gossips) about the corporate and scientific technological world. Unfounded fears of dangers, rapaciousness etc. The fears, doubts etc accumulate; they can explode! Therefore how do you communicate that corporates and institutions are good citizens. As much with the people as they themselves are.. In such a communication it is not a one way street. The methodologies should include listening to them and also demonstrating that you are listening to them.

Great tasks, great challenges. I am sure the women and men doing the tasks would love to take these challenges in a multicultural environment .....SUCCESS comes to those who love challenges..

All the best

I am happy to inaugurate and launch " PRe-zine PResense"
