Workshop on "Strategic Corporate communication" at Delhi


 

A workshop on "Strategic Corporate Communication" was organised at Delhi on 10th and 11th February 2006.  The programme was organised by MPower Business Facilitators, Mumbai with the support of Prime Point Foundation.  Senior officials from Indian Postal Department, Bharati Airtel, IBM, Seimens, LeasePlan, Toyota and Anand Automative participated.  K. Srinivasan (Prime Point Foundation) was the programme leader.

Mr T N Ashok, Corporate Communication Advisor to Alstom Group of companies explained the role of corp communication professionals in the organisations.  He emphasised the need for "keeping eyes and ears opened" and to be pro active.  (Ms Tanuja of IBM is seen handing over a memento to Mr Ashok)

Mr V S Chandrasekhar, Sr. Editor of PTI emphasized the need for quality of information to be provided by corpcom officials.  He insisted on transparent communication during crisis situations, to avoid media going to public with their own inferences. Mr S Narendra, former information advisor to Prime Minister of India shared his views on the effective handling of crisis situation.  He emphasised that corporates should avoid 'white washing' of their sins and 'trying to defend indefensibles'.  (In the picture, Vibha of IBM  is seen presenting a memen to Mr Narendra)

The two days workshop focussed on various aspects of corporate communication like external communication, media relations, internal communication, employer branding, crisis communication and internet communication.  (The participants are seen along with the Programme leader K.
