Chennai PR Club -  discussion on crisis management

Vidya explaining the crisis management

CES-Onyx, a leading waste management company engaged in clearing of garbage  at  Chennai City suffered an unexpected crisis on Feb 5, 6 and 7, 2006.  Their 2300 and odd workers engaged in clearing garbage went on a flash strike from the early morning of 5th Feb. This had put the entire city into inconvenience.  The strike was called off after three days, and the city was back to normalcy.

Mr Sakthi Prasanna, Secretary, Chennai PR Club arranged on 18th Feb 2006, a 'flash meeting' with Ms Vidya, who heads the Corpcom Department of Onyx to know from her as to how they managed the crisis.  (in the earlier picture Vidya (centre) is seen explaining the details). Vidya is also the President of Chennai PR Club.

Vidya explained as to how the crisis was managed without creating panic situation amongst the Chennai City residents.  She said that  her CEO and herself were available to the media over mobile for any comment till the crisis got resolved.

In view of this, media had a 'soft approach' towards the crisis and crisis could be resolved amicably without causing inconvenience to Chennai public.  At the end of the crisis, the workers and the management started working together without any 'ego' problem.
